This is the Hixon
Natatorium, one of two swimming pools on campus. Here you can lap
swim, all day long if you wish, because this is an Olympic-sized pool
with plenty of room for everyone. They keep it at a comfortable 78
degrees, and it is super clean -- it is really one of the best-kept
secrets at this school. Just adjacent to this pool is a high dive
pool, so if you are into diving, this is one of the best places in the
city to do it. Once I taught a lifeguard class here -- I am a lifeguard instructor for the American Red Cross -- and it went really smoothly because this facility is kept up to date will all the safety and emergency precautions that are needed to save someone's life. |

Downstairs in the Bell Center is this room, which is one of two exercise facilities on campus. Here you can see students working out on the elliptical machines while watching television, which is definitely the best way to burn some calories. Behind the elliptical machines are several treadmills and exercise bikes, and of course, plenty of weight machines. Once I was training for a triathlon, and this room came in handy because I was able to go directly from the bike to the treadmill -- just like a real triathlon. After I finished that, I made a dash down the hall to the swimming pool that you see in the above picture to finish my workout. |
| This is the second fitness facility in the Bell Center, a place where a lot of tough guys like to hang out. The football team lifts weights here, and so these machines are the newest and the best that you can find. I once had a PE class here, strength training and conditioning, and it was nice to have an entire facility to use without having to wait for someone to finish. If you ever want to exercise here, odds are, you'll have the place to yourself -- very nice. | |

Here we have another of one of Trinity's best-kept secrets -- the racquetball courts. There are six courts in all, so at any given time, there is always a place to play. Racquetball happens to be one of my favorite sports, and I almost won the intramural championship here. I lost to this big guy who works for the campus computer tech support, his name is Mike, so I like to say that I'd gotten "Mike'd" because he was so good. |
