Create shortcuts

Shortcuts - Use help menu in Windows and look in the index for creating shortcuts.

• A shortcut is a quick way to start a frequently used program or open a file or folder without having to go to its installed location.
• If you want to create a shortcut to a folder, right-click the folder, and then click Create Shortcut. This creates a shortcut to the folder you selected. To move the shortcut, select it, and then drag it to a new location.

Create a shortcut to class folder jbelisle on N drive and move it to your users folder on Y.

• Rt-Click  (not left) on your instructor's Class folder
   
• Left-Click Create Shortcut

• You should see Shortcut to the Class folder on desktop. You should see arrow on icon.
  
   
   
• Click and drag Shortcut to the Class folder to your Y drive.

Exercise: Create a shortcut to your Computer Skills folder (\\tucc-tiger\groups\computerskills\belisle\username) and move it to your users folder on Y.

Uploading a Photo to Blogger

How to add a photo to your profile (sidebar)

1. Upload your photo
2. After you have uploaded your photo, make a brief, NEW entry about something that you learned from Joe Hatch.
   Second New entry: It is 9:00 the night before Computer Skills class. You turn on your computer in your room to start the homework for tomorrow. You get a "blue screen of death." Make a blog entry describing what you might do or could have done to get your assignment completed before the deadline. (Back-up plan)
3. Pair up and critique each others' blogs. Look at the introductory entry as if you are a professional person such as a professor or employer looking for an intern or new employee to hire. You will have ten minutes to make any changes to both blogs (edit text, change language, add elements, etc).

Read over these tips:

 I have created a new "Edited Blog" category on BlackBoard and will award up to 5 points for edited content and style before the first of class on Thursday.

Things to look for as you review:

• Name and Title on blog

• Hometown

• Brief background

• Scavenger hunt fact

• Computer background – skills and needs

• New post about Joe Hatch's visit

Note: The criteria (below) will apply to every blog entry this semester and will affect your overall semester Blog Grade

• Correct grammar – some informal phrasing might be acceptable

• Correct punctuation and capitalization

• Complete sentences

• No slang or non–standard usage

• Appropriate photos

Scavenger Hunt Assignment (18)

1. In your shared folder in \\tucc-tiger\groups\ComputerSkills\Belisle\ there is a folder named 2scavenge with your class time.    

2. Open the folder, open the file in the folder, and answer the questions. To answer the last question, you will first need to leave comments on two of your classmates’ journal entries. Please choose entries that do not already have two comments; then copy and paste the URL of the blog where you left the comment. For example, if you left a comment on Ms. Belisle’s journal entry, the URL would be: http://www.lynbelisle.blogspot.com

3. Save the document inside the 2scavenge folder.
