Establishing a Computer Account on the CS Computers

The Computer Science
Department maintains its own network of
computers separate from the Trinity University
Computing
Center's (TUCC)
network.
To obtain an account on the Computer Science network,
- 1.
- Log into a TUCC Window NT computer using your Trinity username
and password.
- 2.
- Using the Network Neighborhood, find the Sol computer. For me,
the steps were
- (a)
- Select the ``Entire Network'' in the upper left corner.
- (b)
- Choose the ``Microsoft Windows Network.''
- (c)
- Choose ``Cs.''
- (d)
- Choose ``Sol.''
- 3.
- Click (or double-click) Sol.
This should establish an account on the CS computers with the same
username as your TUCC account. The initial password will be emailed
to your TUCC account. Please change it by:
- 1.
- Logging into a CS computer.
- 2.
- Changing your password using the ``yppasswd'' command.
If you experience difficulty, try one of the following:
- Try using a computer on the upper campus, rather than the lower
campus. No one can explain the difficulty. Ask for help at
TUCC.
- If the email message with your CS password does not contain a
password but some other error message, print a copy of the email and
ask Dr. Konstam (HAS 339B) or Dr. Howland (HAS 201C) to give you a
password.
