Spring Semester 2010

Examination One Review

The first examination of the semester will be held Monday, February 15, 2010 in HAS 340. The examination will last 50 minutes. Please be on time since the examination may be long.

The topics for the first examination include, but are not necessarily limited to the following:

The examination will cover chapters one and two of the text. The general rule is: If we covered it in class expect it on the examination. I would recommend that you spend considerable time on the homework problems at the ends of the sections of the textbook.

Some of the questions on the examination will be simple literacy. Do we speak the same language? Some problems on the exam will be very similar to things you have seen before. Other problems will be unlike anything you have ever seen. Your job is to assimilate, synthesize and apply the knowledge you have gained thus far in your study.

The test will be closed book, closed notes, open mind. No calculators or computer workstations allowed. Bring pencils and erase cleanly when you make a mistake. I will not attempt to grade anything I can not read. Neatness counts.

You are, however, allowed to bring one 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper with anything written on it you choose. You may prepare the 'cheat sheet' on the computer if you wish. I would advise you to review carefully, decide what's important, and bring that information with you to the exam.
