Examination Two Review
The second examination of the semester will be held Friday, March 27
at 9:30am. Please be on time since we will have exactly 50 minutes
to complete the examination.
The examination will be closed computer, closed book, closed notes, open
mind. However, students will be allowed to bring one "cheat-sheet" -- a
single 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper with anything written on it the student
wishes. This sheet may be used to assist the student during the exam.
Specific topics include
- 1. MIPS assembly language including engineering and reverse engineering MIPS instructions.
- 2. Constructing an ALU
- 3. Integer representation
- 4. IEEE Short Floating point representation
- 5. Logic circuits, diagrams, and truth tables
- 6. Integer multiplication algorithms
- 7. Integer division algorithms
- 8. Add, sub, and, or, xor, nor, slt, sll, srl, sra, beq, bne, jr, j, jal, jalr, etc.
- 9. Single cycle datapath design and implementation
- 10. Single cycle control design and implementation
- 11. Applications
