12 Golden Country Greats is Ween's 5th album, and third for Elektra Records.

This album marked the first time Ween limited themselves to a specific genre of music. Bringing in a wide variety of seasoned (and sometimes legendary) Nashville musicians (including Buddy Spicher, Bobby Ogdin and The Jordanaires), the album sought to recreate the sound of golden-age country music with a great amount of success, while also combining this sound with classic Ween on such tracks as "Piss up a Rope." Later, Ween would assemble many of the session musicians again into a touring band dubbed The ~love~ Creek Boys.

There are two theories regarding the title of the album. The first claim is that it refers to the dozen veteran musicians, known as The ~love~ Creek Boys, who played on the album. The second claim refers to the fact that the band did indeed record twelve songs during the demo sessions for the album. When it came time to record the actual album, the band chose not to use two of the songs but also decided not to change the album title. The two removed songs were titled "I Got No Darkside" and "So Long, Jerry." "So Long, Jerry" did wind up as a B-Side on the "Piss Up A Rope" single.

Múm (pronounced "Moom"; in IPA, [Muːm]) is an experimental Icelandic musical group whose music is characterized by soft vocals, electronic glitch beats and effects, and a variety of traditional and unconventional instruments. They are also known for their concise, condensed remixes of songs. The band was formed in 1997. Its original members were Gunnar Örn Tynes, Örvar Þóreyjarson Smárason, and twin sisters Gyða and Kristín Anna Valtýsdóttir. In 2002, Gyða left the band to return to her studies in Reykjavík. In early 2006, Kristín also left the band, although it was not officially announced until November 23.

According to founding member Kristín Valtýsdóttir, the band's name was not intended to mean anything. A fourth album recorded during 2006 was released on 24 September 2007, entitled Go Go Smear the Poison Ivy. The album was preceded by a single titled They Made Frogs Smoke 'Til They Exploded on 27 August 2007.

celand's Múm proves to be as successful at creating emotional ambient electronic music as they are at posing for album covers (the twin sisters in the band appeared on the sleeve of Belle & Sebastian's Fold Your Hands Child, You Walk Like a Peasant). Yesterday Was Dramatic - Today Is OK blends equal parts early Aphex Twin atmosphere, glitchy clicks reminiscent of Autechre, and dramatic musical elements that evoke the sorrow and glory of compatriot's Sigur Ros. Múm allow their songs to stretch out into lush, lengthy arrangements as a synthetic accordion mingles with rolling beats, icy analog effects, beeping instruments that recall some fantastic Disney ride, and the occasional female voice humming or singing quietly. Melodicas, glockenspiels, and other exotic instruments spur recurring motifs of sadness and joy. When the album isn't operating as a perfect post-modern lullaby, Múm is at work crafting memorable melodies. "Awake on a Train" is typical of the startling beauty the band achieves throughout the album, as tinkering keyboards and a lone voice work as aural tearjerkers. "The Ballad of the Broken Birdie Records" suggests what the pairing of Cocteau Twins and Mike Paradinas might have sounded like, as throbbing, hazy electronics lean against haunting vocals. "Sunday Night Just Keeps on Rolling" brings to mind tiny ships sounding off to each other across a sea of flowing lava. Though the album is modern in its inception, the music is effortlessly timeless and thoroughly engrossing. Yesterday Was Dramatic - Today Is OK is an unmitigated, accessible masterpiece.

Múm's first album for Fat Cat by no coincidence, the label that also broke fellow Icelanders Sigur Rós has all the majestic synths, crackly drum-machine percussion, sampled silence, and crystalline vocals you'd expect from the country that produced Björk and Sigur Rós, though with less focus on digital sound than the former and less reliance on drama than the latter. Múm are very interested in the music of sound, but Finally We Are No One never sounds like a difficult record; if it's not the instruments sounding naïve or folksy (in good ways), the lisping, childlike vocals are bound to prompt adjectives like adorable and precious. "Green Grass of Tunnel" has the sweet melancholia, coloring-book hip-hop, and slowly shifting chords of poptronica producers like ISAN or Boards of Canada, and also trades on the wide-eyed fairy-tale qualities of Björk. Apart from the hefty title, "Don't Be Afraid, You Have Just Got Your Eyes Closed" approaches mainstream appeal briefly, and at several different times with a nice dance beat gradually replaced by a beatbox breakdown, toy xylophone, and a nice trumpet melody. Several individual passages of songs strike an evocative chord, like the string quartet, piano, warm synthesizers, and percussion rumblings of "K/Half Noise" combining to recall the quieter portions of Tortoise's landmark "Djed."

2004. summer make good

After the pastoral pop of Finally We Are No One, Múm returned with Summer Make Good, which continues the more organic-sounding trend of the group's previous album, but with a darker and more theatrical feel than any of their other work. "Hu Hviss - a Ship" lasts scarcely more than a minute, but it signals the rest of the album's spooky beauty with a soundscape of wind, creaking wood, and what might as well be whale songs. The album has a sense of drama that is a welcome addition to Múm's sound, especially on "Weeping Rock, Rock," a slow-building epic that makes the most of the electronic-meets-symphonic sound that the band has forged since Yesterday Was Dramatic - Today Is OK. The song's brass, powerful but intricate drums, and focus on Kristín Anna Valtýsdóttir's distinctive, childlike voice won't diminish the comparisons between Múm and Björk, especially since Múm have made vocals a bigger part of their music with each release. However, Múm's music is more organic and delicate than Björk's is, and Valtýsdóttir's voice is far more ethereal and diffuse. Indeed, her singing is so delicate that the group's decision to emphasize it doesn't always lead to immediately compelling results. That's not to say tracks such as "The Ghosts You Draw on My Back" aren't lovely, but instrumental pieces like the Broadcast-esque "Away" and "Stir," which sounds like eddies of wind chasing each other, tend to be more arresting on first listen. The songs that use Valtýsdóttir's voice as another instrument, including the return to Yesterday Was Dramatic - Today Is OK-style electronica of "Sing Me Out the Window," also work well. Summer Make Good's melancholy lifts a bit in the middle of the album on the angel-spun "Island of Children's Children," a gorgeous song that takes the joyful feeling of Finally We Are No One and multiplies it by ten. It makes the song an even sharper contrast to the rest of the album's gentle sadness, which peaks on "Oh, How the Boat Drifts" and the eerily lovely "Will the Summer Make Good for All of Sins?." Summer Make Good may be Múm's quietest and most impressionistic album yet; what they're able to do with silence and near-silence is impressive, particularly on the serene, softly rounded "Nightly Cares" and "Abandoned Ship Bells," which drifts the album to a close. Its quietness and moodiness make Summer Make Good Múm's most demanding album, but also, fortunately, a rewarding one too.

2006. Peel Session

Mum only ever recorded one session for John Peel's BBC Radio One show, and here it is in its completeness. Dating back to October 2002, the four tracks here span the gap between the albums Yesterday Was Dramatic - Today Is OK and their breakthrough release, Finally We Are No One. 'Scratched Bicycle/Smell Memory' opens the session, and takes the form of a remixed medley of the two songs referenced in the title.
It's a welcome reminder of the band's roots as purveyors of first rate warm, crunchy electronics and hints at their later work, integrating melodic acoustic instrumentation with laptop sound processing. 'Now There Is That Fear Again' (the only track here to be lifted from Finally We Are No One) provides the clearest indication of the more expansive, Mum sound that we know them for today.
Complete with Kristín Anna Valtsdóttir's breathy, childlike vocals and dramatic staccato strings, it's an essential alternate version of one of the band's key songs. A great stop-gap that comes with a hearty, icelandic recommendation.

A Los Angeles-based quartet of hip-hoppers with a sense of history, a bigger sense of humour, and a knack for head-noddin' rhythms--something that the group may have developed during their years as dancers. Though they got together in LA in 1990, in the midst of the city's gangsta sound heyday, the Pharcyde were different, espousing a lighter approach; upon their debut, many pegged them as left coast's own De La Soul (though, in reality, their sound owed more to Fishbone). Though they made just two albums in the 1990s, the best tracks from both are collected here; it makes for an ideal sampler of their early work.

Sky Eats Airplane

Sky Eats Airplane is a Metalcore/Electronica band based in Fort Worth, Texas, formed in 2005.

Formation

Sky Eats Airplane started off as a two piece with Brack Cantrell on vocals and Lee Duck on guitar. Before they formed, Brack and Lee were in two separate bands. After Brack's band broke up, due to personal problems, Lee asked him to join his band. The two began experimenting with electronica programs and Sky Eats Airplane was born.

2005-present

After working on some demos, the band quickly became well known locally. They began working on their debut album Everything Perfect on the Wrong Day in early 2006. Over a three month span they self produced the entire nine-track album. Sky Eats Airplane held their CD release party for their debut album at The Door in Fort Worth, Texas.

In the fall of 2006 Brack decided he no longer wanted to take part in the band. He left wanting to pursue softer music. Lee, still wanting to continue the band, asked Zack Ordway, Johno Erickson and Kenny Schick of a recently broken up local band called (in theory) to join. After a two month search Jerry Roush joined in as the vocalist, Sky Eats Airplane was now complete. In 2007 they released three demos on their myspace, which brought much attention to the band. They began touring through out the year and signed to Equal Vision Records in early 2008.

In early 2008 the band entered Salad Days Studios in Baltimore, MD with producer Brian McTernan (Circa Survive, Thrice, The Bled, Senses Fail), to record their self-titled follow up album. The album is set to released on July 22, 2008 through Equal Vision Records.

This is NOT an actual upload of the album. After seeing a lot of requests at both this board and in other ones and not being able to find the album anywhere over the internet, i decided to DL all of their previous albums, extracted the needed songs and compiled this album. This album also includes their new hit song Rising and another new song called Saiun, which weren't included in their previous albums.

All of the exact songs which are supposed to be in the actual album are in this compiled album with good sound qualities ranging from 186kpbs to 320kpbs. THE only exception is being Saiun. I searched for it everywhere but couldn't find it online and added a low quality 30secs long Sample instead. Other than that everything is perfect.

A special rarity here, this is an interview with Colbert Hamilton (Black Elvis) by big Lizzy fan Paul Murphy (the other Brummie Irishman) The clip features a full length recording of Phils last ever recorded song: Do You Want to Rock! This info was from the page the clip was posted on:

"In this video Paul Murphy, from Birmingham band "The Destroyers", talks with fellow Brum Colbert Hamilton about recording with Phil Lynott shortly before Lynott's death in 1986. This item includes a section of the song "Do You Want To Rock?" which until now has been previously unheard.

The track, which was produced by Lynott in his house in Richmond, features Lynott on bass and backing vocals - with Colbert on lead vocals.

Originally created in Japan, or somewhere in the far east, the series 1-7 were factory pressed and the covers professionally printed. That being so, it was still a bootleg series and completely unofficial. The content is made up of rare b-sdes, out takes, demos and live tracks you rarely heard. Most of the rips here are from the original silver, pressed cd's ripped at 240kbps. Some are downloaded and have a lower bit rate. And are all in mp3. Worth downloading I'd say.

The first rarity I posted is a recording of Thin Lizzy recorded by myself at Manchester's Apollo Theatre on the 24th of April 1982. I recorded the concert from the audience on a Marantz Superscope professional stereo tape deck with 2 Sony miniature microphones. The original source tape was Sony Metal. The audio was manually set with a 20db reduction so there is no clipping. The audio from the tape was transferred to cd via my LG audio recorder and ripped with dB rip. As audience recordings go this is of excellent quality. Enjoy!!!

My version is the EMI CD which I searched high and low to find. It turns out that even the most highly regarded CD versions are still tinny and have a whole load of mid-high pumped into them (I know my copy sounds poor). I asked a friend of mine to capture his original vinyl and I think he did an amazing job - very flat transfer, no additional EQ beyond the RIAA curve.

While there are some issues with the original mastering anyway, I think this vinyl version sounds fantastic - like a whole different album.

If the album title seems self-assured, it's only truth in labeling. For his last album of the millennium, rock's greatest guitarist teams with an old compatriot (keyboardist Tony Hymas, a staple since 1980's There and Back who coproduces here with Beck) and one of his musical godchildren (Jennifer Battin, longtime tour guitarist for Michael Jackson). The result is a rough musical travelogue of the '80s and '90s that occasionally turns down a dead end. The synth-sequenced backdrops and terse phrasings of "Psycho-Sam," "Blast from the East," and "THX138" recall the fusion reactions on Wired and There and Back (and pose a seemingly heretical notion: did Beck invent techno?). "Space for the Papa" recalls the no-frills structure of Guitar Shop. "Angel (Footsteps)" showcases Beck's unique tone and phrasing, evoking Santo and Johnny swinging on a star, while "Another Place" offers up elegant classicism. "Hip-Notica" proves there's still funk in Beck's blood, even if "Declan" gets mired in New Age overkill. But Beck's shortcomings have traditionally come in framing his incendiary prowess and emotional directness. As a high-profile collaborator once put it, "You fast-forward through that stuff to get to the solos." In that department, Who Else! delivers. The live, unadorned "Brush with the Blues" lets him elevate masterfully subtle riffing into a firestorm of a solo. "Even Odds" (a reunion with Jan Hammer) and "Space" show what a mockery the musician can make of otherwise useful terms such as noise and tonality. If Who Else! occasionally stumbles, it's good to remember what a critic once said of the Marx Brothers: "They never made a film as good as they really were." Beck has made great albums, but few to match his genius as a musician. --Jerry McCulley

The Yoshida Brothers

The Yoshida Kyōdai are Japanese musicians and have released several albums, internationally known as the Yoshida Brothers.

They are a pair of brothers and performers of the traditional Japanese music style of Tsugaru-jamisen which originated in northern Japan. They debuted in 1999 in Japan as a duo playing the shamisen. Their first album sold over 100,000 copies and made them minor celebrities in Japan, a fact that surprised the Yoshida Brothers themselves. They have since attracted an international audience. Their music has been a fusion of the rapid and percussive Tsugaru-jamisen style along with Western and other regional musical influences. In addition to performing songs that are only on the shamisen, they also use modern instruments such as drums and synthesizers.

Keri Lynn Hilson [born October 27th 1982 in Atlanta, Georgia] is an American R&B singer and songwriter signed to Zone 4/Mosley Music Group/Interscope Records.
