Test #2

This whole test will center around your ability to design and implement a proper simulation experiment for a particular system. The system in question is a 4-way traffic intersection. The goal is to find the configuration for the intersection that allows maximum throughput. Your budget does constrain your options some. For example, you can't build any bridges. Space constraints limit you to no more than three lanes in or out of the intersection for any direction.

To get "measurements" for elements of the system you need to send me an e-mail and I will provide you with that information. You have until 4-27 to produce your report with your conclusions. Make sure that you fully specify your methods and your assumptions in the report. You have to establish credibility in the report.

You are allowed to use an evolutionary approach in your problem solving here, but you need to be careful in how you do it and give a clear explanation of why the approach you have chosen is appropriate.
