Bring blank seating charts to class.
TA creates seating chart with blog links.

Objective:
-Be able to access your Y drive folder.
-Be able to access the class folder on the N drive.
-Be able to access your shared folder in \\tucc-tiger\Groups\ComputerSkills\Semmes\

-Be able to make a shortcut to a folder.
-Be able to make a shortcut to a web page
-Be able to access your network drives from you own computer as long as you are connected on campus.

Choose your computer for the semester at the beginning of class

Y: drive shortcut to class web page

 Navigate to Class Web Page

Your Electronic Folders for Computer Skills

Class Folder - Dr. Semmes puts files and folders here for you to copy

Go to Class folder from My Computer. The class
folder will open.

Also can use Start >> Run

Groups Folder - Folder for your homework

Create shortcut to your Groups folder.

The shortcut to the Groups folder will by in your Y drive with the shortcut you made to the class web page.

Shortcuts - A shortcut is a quick way to open a folder or start a frequently used program

Changing Icons of Shortcuts:

May not work on lab computers
Right Click on Shortcut>Properties>Shortcut Tab>Change Icon?>Choose what you like

Practice

  1. Create a Shortcut in your Y: drive to the Class Folder

  2. Use your shortcuts to copy the 2practice folder from the Class folder to the Groups folder
    Open file in 2practice folder. Read and Head. Enter your name, etc. and delete the line.

  3. SAVE (not save as)

 

In-class - edit blogs with a partner

air up and critique each others' blogs. Look at the introductory entry as if you are a professional person such as a professor or employer looking for an intern or new employee to hire. Discuss changes that need to be made to both blogs (edit text, change language, add elements, etc).
