Advantages to the Sponsoring Organization

There are a number of distinct advantages to company sponsorship of a GEMBA student:

1.  The company can enhance the global leadership abilities of its high potential managers. The global content of the program, the attention to regional cultural issues which influence management, and the focus on strategic thinking dramatically alter participants' thinking, and will help them develop a truly global mindset. Most importantly, the 19-month GEMBA program significantly accelerates the speed of this learning process.
2.  The company can expect an immediate infusion of ideas and new perspectives. Participants will be members of a cohort of other high-ability executives from many of the world's leading multinational organizations and entrepreneurial enterprises. This mix, facilitated by a leading research-based faculty, creates a remarkably fertile learning environment. The integration of existing management responsibilities with high-quality professional education immediately changes the perspective on day-to-day issues and tasks.
3.  GEMBA students receive firsthand experience with sophisticated, cutting-edge communications technology. This technology is shaping the way companies will work in the future, and it gives GEMBA students an opportunity to learn how to build effective teams across functions, cultures and time zones.
4.  A GEMBA executive can be based anywhere in the world. This flexibility means that a company can transfer the executive anywhere in the world during the course of the program without interrupting the academic process.
5. The company retains its best people. The brightest executives require nurturing and rapid development. By fully participating in the sponsorship of a GEMBA student, and by being clear with the student about the expected returns, companies build loyalty among their most valuable employees. During the program the company keeps the executive on the job. The participant needs to be away from work for a total of only 11 weeks over a 19-month period of time (1 three-week session and 4 two-week sessions).

Expected Outcomes

We strongly recommend that the sponsoring organization work with the selected participant to identify objectives for the organization and for the individual. The number of ways that GEMBA can enhance management performance and subsequently the performance of the company is virtually unlimited, and your organization is in the best position to identify these based on an understanding of your corporate strategy.

Corporate Perspective: The Best of Both Worlds

Keeping high-potential executives on the job while they pursue an advanced degree is really the best of both worlds. They continue to add value because the GEMBA format so readily accommodates company needs.
