Initialization - SetUp!

If you have not downloaded FTP Install, you might want to follow the link below for assistance.

 Install FTP Explorer (ftpx)

1] The first time the application is run, the user is provided an opportunity to accept some sample profiles. These profiles contain links to a number of software archives and corporate download sites. I would recommend accepting these sites. I push the Yes button!  (below)

2] As you can see below, configurations for CICA (Mosaic), Netscape, Microsoft, and a number of others have been pre-configured for you. I would like to configure a ftp profile for my computer science account. I push the Add button!  (below)

3] Each Web site is stored on a hard drive associated with some computer linked to the web. Individuals creating web sites will need to get the following information from their Internet Provider before they can create a web site!

FTP - Download

1] Let us assume that we are connected to host computer
www.trinityedu. The local computer (IBM, Mac, HP, etc.) is the local machine on which I am running the ftp application. Downloading is the process of transferring files from host computer to the local computer.
