Tutorial: Visual Studio 2008 Install

1] Load the DVD. If a Trinity University Student do the following:
2] Using the mouse, hold down the Start Button and select
Run... (See Below!)
2] Enter \\ananke.cs.trinity.edu Using the mouse, push/select the OK button. (See Below!)

3] The folder selection will vary. Drag folder Visual Studio 2008 to your desktop; the application does nearly as well across our network. Using the mouse, double click on your copy of the Visual Studio 2008 folder. (See Below!)

4] Using the mouse, double click on Setup.EXE to launch the installer. (See Below!)

1] Using the mouse, select/push the
Install Visual Studio link. (See Below!)

The install will load some setup files in your MyDocuments\Local Settings\Temp
folder. (See Below!)

Using the mouse, select/push the Next button. (See Below!)
4]
Read the license agreement. Using the mouse, select/push the Next
button. (See Below!)
5]
Select a Full install. Using the mouse, select/push the Install
button. (See Below!)
6]
Using the mouse, select/push the Finish button. (See Below!)

The system will have to restart; when restarting, Visual Studio will
continue to execute some of the temp files in folder MyDocuments\Local
Settings\Temp. Using the mouse, select/push the Restart Now
button. (See Below!)
8] When you restart, the install will continue as a batch file in a
command window such as the one below. It will stay up on your screen for quite
some time; I do not recommend closing it!

9] If you look at your task manager, you will be able to see quite a bit of
processing.
10] Also on your screen is the Visual Studio Setup window. Select the Finish
button on the Install. Depending upon how long you wait, it may complete the
last portion of the install in the background. (See Below!)

1] Go to ananke. Run Setup.exe. Using the mouse, select/push the
Change or Remove Product Documentation link. (See Below!)

2] Using the mouse, select/push the Next
button. (See Below!)

Read the license agreement. Using the mouse, select/push the Next
button. (See Below!)
4] Select Full Documentation. Using the mouse, select/push the Next
button. (See Below!)
5] Using the mouse, select/push the Finish
button. (See Below!)
1] Using the mouse, select/push the Check for Service Releases link. (See Below!)
1] Using the mouse, select/push the Exit
button. (See Below!)
