Review:
The Cure and a reggae beat certainly make strange bedfellows as, one assumes, do Adam Sandler and a girl with no short-term memory. In that sense, the 50 First Dates soundtrack is a good accompaniment to a fluffy romantic comedy in which one of the main characters is perpetually living in the past. It's also a fitting follow-up to that other Sandler/Barrymore vehicle, The Wedding Singer. (Take a set by Robbie Hart, add a topical shirt, and voilá: a new soundtrack is born.) To those who can't get enough of '80s hits like Bryan Ferry's "Slave to Love" and the Cars' "Drive," setting them to a island beat will likely seem whimsical, charming, and perfect for barbecue weather. For those who are glad the '80s are gone, this CD is a pass. And for Sandler-completeists who crave lighthearted, comic tunes like "Forgetful Lucy," well, you obviously own this already.

Eventually morphing into a gang of six merrymakers bent on filtering their all-encompassing record collections through original instrumentation and a great deal of sampling, the Avalanches came from one of the most unlikely places to generate mind-bending dance music -- Australia. Perfectly fitting with the band's range, the roots of the crew are in punk. Robbie Chater and Darrin Seltmann were in a couple of short-lived outfits together, most notably the Swinging Monkey Cocks. Gordon McQuilten, Toni Diblasi, and Dexter Fabay eventually joined in on the mess, but they acquired turntables and set their sights on dance music of the sample-based variety, originally leaning on abstract hip hop and naming themselves the Avalanches. Trifekta Records released the Rock City single in 1997, which soon brought the interest of Australian label Modular. With a long-term deal freshly inked, they released the seven-track El Producto EP and polished their outlandish live show, including dates with the Beastie Boys and Public Enemy. Rex issued the Undersea Community EP in 1998, which culled from the band's demo trove. Somewhere along the way, keyboardist James De La Cruz was added to the lineup. An extensive patch of time was spent building Since I Left You, a 60-minute melting pot of the band's collective that sounds like a postcard to anyone who has ever made a record. Released in their native land in late 2000 and preceded by the appetite-whetting Frontier Psychiatrist EP, it received a response from critics and the public that reflected the album's glowing nature. The group even had the blessing of Madonna, who allowed them to sample the bass line to "Holiday" -- the first time she okayed such a thing. Fear Factory is an American heavy metal band. The band formed in 1989 and have released seven full-length albums and a number of singles and remixes. Over the course of their career they have evolved from a succession of styles, as well as steadily pioneered a combination of the styles death metal, groove metal, thrash metal and industrial metal. The resultant sound proved to be enormously influential on the metal scene from the mid-90s and onwards. Their most recent album, Transgression, described as a more experimental and atypical effort, has also contained elements of pop music and progressive metal.
Fear Factory disbanded in March 2002 following some internal disputes, but they reformed later that year minus founding member Dino Cazares adding bassist, Byron Stroud, and casting then-bassist Christian Olde Wolbers as guitarist.

In April of 2009, a new lineup was announced with founding guitarist Cazares returning, and Gene Hoglan being added as drummer. Bell and Stroud are both reprising their respective roles, and the band is currently in the studio working on new material. Former members Christian Olde Wolbers and Raymond Herrera (currently playing in Arkaea) dispute the legitimacy of the new lineup, and a legal battle is underway from both parties.

The band has toured with the likes of Black Sabbath, Pantera, Iron Maiden, Slayer, System of a Down, Megadeth, Dream Theater, Mastodon, Misery Index and Rammstein; performed at three Ozzfests as well as the inaugural Gigantour and has had singles in the US Mainstream Rock Top 40 and albums in the Billboard Top 40, 100 and 200. They are currently in the pre-production stages of the recording of a new full-length album and, for the time being, are functioning independent of a record label. Prior to 2001 they have toured around 2000 shows. They have sold over 1 million albums in the U.S. alone.

From his early years singing in bars in the Southwest through his entry into (and swift departure from) the Nashville establishment, on into his "outlaw" golden years, this captures Waylon at his best.

Disc One, which concentrates on Jennings' early years as a 1960s "folk-country" singer in Nashville, probably has the most to offer fans who are already familiar with his big, rowdy hits of the '70s and early '80s. Although the folk-oriented material isn't as rugged or meaty as his later work, there are some soulful performances and unusual arrangements and production touches that may surprise even longtime fans. The disc is well-chosen and nicely paced, and packed with plenty of non-hit material that may be unfamiliar even to devoted Waylon fans. Discs Two and Three comprehensively document his glory years, all those fearless, funny, sad, soulful hits that stand at the very core of the outlaw/alternative country canon. Yeah, there are some songs left out, but not many, and all the major touchstones are included. The last disc skims his work in the 1980s and '90s, with the added bonus that his work for the rival MCA label is also sampled, making room for some of his later hits and one-off material.

There are a lot of good Waylon best-of collections on the market today, but this really blows most of them away. We could all think of some additional songs we'd like to see on here as well, but for anyone who just wants to get a really, really good introduction to Waylon's work, this collection oughta do it for you.

Suicide Silence is a 5-piece deathcore band from Riverside, California.

Suicide Silence was formed in 2002. Recently, the band has signed to Century Media Records and have finished recording their crushing debut album The Cleansing, which was released September 18th, 2007. They also have a five track EP that is self-titled Suicide Silence.

Their most recent video, The Price Of Beauty, was banned from MTV for being too explicit.

This is undoubtedly one of the greatest albums I've ever heard, a neofolk apocalyptic masterpiece. Chances are that if you live in the States you haven't heard of them. But you need to; I rank it up with OK Computer and Laughing Stock for the best albums of the 90's.

Arc Angels - Arc Angels (1992)

There are one-hit wonders throughout the history of music, but very few one-album wonders like the Arc Angels. After the death of blues-rock guitar hero Stevie Ray Vaughan, fellow singing guitarists, Texans, and Vaughan devotees Doyle Bramhall II and Charlie Sexton formed the quartet with Vaughan's rhythm section of bassist Tommy Shannon and drummer Chris Layton. Their 1992 debut release would also be their swan song, but the self-titled album would prove to be one of the best rock/pop/blues recordings of the decade as well. The opening "Living in a Dream" is the only tune Sexton and Bramhall II co-composed, and is perhaps the closest that the Arc Angels come to re-creating Vaughan's signature sound. "Paradise Cafe" is one of a handful of tracks Sexton co-wrote with pop composer Tonio K., but he and Bramhall II engage in some ZZ Top-like call-and-response vocals, and Bramhall II's Vaughan dedication, "Sent by Angels," features some of the album's most impassioned singing. Funky tunes like "Sweet Nadine," "Good Time," and "Carry Me On" lighten the mood, and Shannon, Layton, and guest keyboardist Ian McLagan play brilliantly throughout in setting up the singing guitarists. The spirit of Vaughan permeates the recording, from the production of Little Steven to the liner notes ("Dedicated to our friend, Stevie Ray Vaughan. We miss you"), yet never sounds forced, purposeful, or contrived. Alas, the final two songs, the rocking "Shape I'm In" and epic "Too Many Ways to Fall", sport titles that point toward the Arc Angels being a Vaughan-like comet rather than a future veteran group. Sexton's solo recording career had started as a teenager; Bramhall II and his father Doyle Bramhall were friends of Vaughan's (the elder Bramhall even composing and co-composing tunes with the guitar giant). But the two frontmen who complemented each other so well nonetheless couldn't blend their egos as easily. Arc Angels stands as testimony that a band needn't have a long career to have a lasting legacy.

truANT is Alien Ant Farm's second album. It was released on August 8, 2003 by DreamWorks. The producers of the album were Stone Temple Pilots' guitarist and bassist Robert DeLeo and Dean DeLeo.

The music video for track "These Days" was filmed on a roof top across the street from the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles. The surprise video shoot was shot during the 2003 BET Awards while numerous hip hop artists and rappers were arriving on the red carpet before the awards show. The video catches the reaction from many artists, including Nelly, Snoop Dogg, and Lil Kim (the former of which was also signed to DreamWorks).

The album art is based on the classic Pee-Chee brand school folder (no longer in production), featuring the faces of the band members.

It's considered a commercial flop in the U.S. due to the facts that there was little support for the album with no official single released ("Forgive and Forget" was only released as a promo to radio and received little airplay) and no tour. The album debuted at number 114 on the Billboard 200 and in its next week dropped to number 198 and fell off the next week.

The album cover features references to songs of past albums, such as Pink Tea, Smooth Criminal, Movies, and S.S. Recognize.
