TAs: Course Evaluations at the end of class today - thanks!!!
Website Presentations:
Please limit your presentation to three minutes. Good work, Everyone :)
Take notes as students present - your homework assignment will be to make a new entry in your blog by listing your three favorite Student Websites and giving valid reasons why you liked them. What design and navigation effects were especially good? Was the presentation effective in making you want to learn more about the person's interests and background? Why or why not?
Review: Publish Web on Sol - make a change to one of your pages, practice reloading it.
For safety, backup your Web in your shared folder onto your Y drive.
Open your HTML-Documents folder on Sol and copy and paste the folders and files from inside your Web folder (26myweb). The page named index.htm or default.htm is your home page.
To open your HTML-Documents folder:
start >> run>> \\sol.cs.trinity.edu\userid\Local\HTML-Documents (substitute your own userid)

Website Q&A
Intro to Database
What are some examples of databases?
Terminology
These words are used often in Access so you will want to become familiar with them when using the program (and before the final exam):
Planning is the most critical step in creating a database. The design of the database should reflect an understanding of how information will be entered and retrieved. A database that is set up correctly will save a lot of headaches in the latter stages of development. For example, if you plan to sort on zip code, there must be a separate field for zip. If you plan to alphabetize using last name, you need a separate field for last name. In general, you should break down information into small fields.
Follow Directions in class for Movie Database Files
Create a report using the wizard to show this information in an organized way
Homework:

Blog updates on your blog re: student websites, listing three favorites and why. Leave 2 comments on other students' blogs, your choice
Part 2: Complete the Contacts Spreadsheet inside 27sitebase - we will use this on Tuesday. We are completing this in Excel and then importing it into Access on Tuesday because there is no corresponding version of Access on Office for Mac
Part 3: Look over Chapter 9 in the text - pay particular attention to the Vocabulary on pp. 405-406
