Have you ever asked a
teacher why you learned a formula in math class or a fact in social studies?
Most teachers respond to this question by saying, "You'll need this
information when you get into the 'real world'," as if your current life
doesn't count. This year in Ms. Kean's English class, we've studied books
about Odysseus's journey home after the Trojan war, a mystical love story
that overcomes time, and a war novel from the perspective of a German foot
soldier, to name a few. Now I am asking you: How
do these novels relate to real life?
