Dr. Gerald Pitts received one of two Distinguished Former Student Awards at the Texas A&M Engineering Department of Computer Science annual Spring Banquet and Awards Ceremony held on April 29, 2005 at the Hilton Hotel & Confernece Center in College Station. Dr. Pitts pioneered the concept of shared microcomputer Virtual Reality interface with simulation models. Throughout his career, Dr. Pitts has provided outstanding administrative leadership, developed innovative teaching methods, become an expert in his area of research, and most importantly, made lasting friendships with his students and colleagues. A commemorative plaque was presented to Dr. Pitts by Dr. Valerie Taylor, Department Head of Computer Science and Royce E. Wisenbaker Professor at Texas A&M University, and Mr. Isaac Aholu, President of the Computer Science Graduate Student Association. In addition to the plaque, a $1000 Distinguished Former Student Scholarship in honor of Dr. Pitts was awarded to Mr. Christopher Andrew Walker, a computer science senior. Thumbnails of photos:
