Set 02 of Dorothy's Winter Wonderland
Bob Jensen at Trinity University

When Erika and I retired in the White Mountains of New Hampshire in 2006 we needed various kinds of work done inside and outside our cottage
Our new acquaintances told us that the best worker in New England was a woman named Dorothy
They were absolutely correct

You can read my introduction to Dorothy in Set 01 of her Winter Wonderland
http://www.cs.trinity.edu/rjensen/Tidbits/Dorothy/Set01/Set01.htm

Dorothy sometimes hikes and climbs with companions who take the photographs
In winter Dorothy hikes and climbs mountains wearing snowshoes
She's becoming a hiking and climbing legend in these parts
Most of the photographs Dorothy forwarded to me were taken by climbing companion Bill Fratis
Other companions who take her pictures on hikes in these mountains are
Eric Cafazzo, Al Parzych, Rachel Bal

I first featured my photographs of Dorothy building a very long rock fence

About 28 miles visible from my desk is the highest mountain in New England
It's called Mt. Washington in the Presidential Range of the White Mountains of New Hampshire
Mt. Washington is noted for having some of highest winds and worst recorded weather on earth ---

The winds often above 100 mph would blow the snow off Mt. Washington if the snow was not embedded in ice

The Appalachian Trail runs along the top of the Presidential Range
Above timberline rocks are piled up to mark the trail

Here's a long list of the people who died along the Presidential Range

The Cog Railroad to the summit of Mt. Washington does not run in the winter

This is the Lake of the Clouds Hut on Mt. Monroe in the Presidential Range
Mt. Washington's weather towers are visible in the background

At the base of  Mt. Washington Crawford Notch, begins across from the Twin Mountain Range visible about 20 miles from our cottage

The pictures below were taken on a winter wonderland hike's peaceful climb up Twin Mountain

In the next edition of Tidbits I will feature Dorothy's winter wonderland climb up Cannon Mountain
