The two major tourist seasons in these White Mountains are lupine season in the spring and foliage season in the autumn
In autumn of 2020 there are streaming visitors even if there is a pandemic

This is our cottage while driving south on Sunset Hill Road

 

This is the view of our cottage and studio from behind while facing east

The highest mountain we can see (28 miles) from our living room is the legendary Mt. Washington in the Presidential Range

Mt. Garfield in the Kinsman Range looks higher in the picture below only because it's closer
The tops of Mt. Washington, Garfield, and Lafaette are on the 2,200 mile Appalachian Trail

Below is a grove of trees south of our cottage that separates our lawn from our wildflower field

 

 

 

This is how I sweep up some of the leaves in our yard
The other leaves get blown across the road by our prevailing west winds

 

This is how our pond garden eventually looks with the New Guinea Impatiens I plant in early June

 

Then in September our first nightly freeze does this to our summer-blooming impatiens
In foliage season one has to take the bad with the good

 

Most clear days we can see gliders being pulled up by a 65-year old lift plane
The gliders descend over the valley in front of the Kinsman Mountain Range

Our cottage was known as the Brayton Cottage in the early 1900s
Sunset Hill is a ridge overlooking with New Hampshire's White Mountains to the East
and Vermont's Green Mountains to the West
