Year 2020 in Review

Bob Jensen at Trinity University

One highlight in 2020 was David's visit in November 2020. In years past we always went to California to visit David and his brother Mike.
This year David visited us for a few days. Below is a picture of David with his mom.
Erika was once over five feet six inches tall. Since her many spine surgeries she's shrunk a bit.
Now tall David towers over his mom and me.
David has four grown children, three of which are now in college.

This is David, Mike, and Mom some years back when we visited California

This was taken before Erika commenced her spine surgeries
I told you that she was a relatively tall woman at one time

Below is a picture of David about the time he graduated from Macarthur High School in San Antonio
See how much hair this handsome boy had in his youth

This is a zoomed view of Mt. Washington from my desk.

About 30 miles away is the historic Mt. Washington Hotel.

On a day when Erika was not feeling well, I took David up to the above hotel for lunch during his short visit.
The normally crowded lobby was total empty due to Covid19.
David and I had the restaurant of this enormous hotel almost to ourselves.

In past years I used my New Holland tractor to move snow with a snow thrower on the back.
In 2020 our nearby New Holland dealer went out of business.

In 2020 I decided to buy a new tractor from the only tractor dealer left within 60 miles
I bought a John Deere 1025 with a heated cab to keep me warm when it's below zero with a hard wind
It's also very easy to pull the tractor away from its mower and front end loader
In my driveway an expert mechanic then installed a front-end snow thrower
This is my latest "toy" that I move from my barn to my garage when heavy snow is in the forecast.
Next summer I will easily remount the front-end loader and mower

This view of our driveway shows why I need a snow thrower

This is a picture taken some years back when Lisl and her brother Marshall visited from Maine.
In 2020 they did not come up to these mountains because of Covid19.
That's when pictures from the past become more precious.
It may look like it, but I really had not been drinking.
I just got old.

In October 2020 before Halloween we had a snow storm that was a disaster.
The problem was that not all the leaves were off the trees and the roses were still in bloom.
The snow did not last long, but it brought down a lot of tree limbs and whole trees.

Wild turkeys beg for food in the winter

Erika has blooming cacti all over the cottage
This is one of them beside our elevator
